2nd Chris Verwijst Tournament

1978. THE PLATTSBURG ROADRUNNERS

They came, saw and won, the Plattsburg Roadrunners from New York.
The Chris Verwijst tournament now expanded to having eight teams competing.
(With 2 National Teams : The Dutch Cadets and the Belgian "Red Devils")
The Roadrunners in their first four games were undefeated having 33 goals for and 6 against.
The other teams submitted a protest, as the Roadrunners it seemed had one overage player on their team.
The Roadrunners team accompanied by a city council delegation after many talks straightened out the matter.
Tilburg did well in this tournament and came in 5th place.

The Belgian hockey player Koen Wijns gathered 16 points in 4 games and became the tournament topscorer.
Terry Guay of The Plattsburg Roadrunners was chosen as the most valuable player of the tournament.
